Privateer Press Mk2 release schedule

New range of Heavy Warjacks coming out as part of the Mk2 rewrite including the following big beastie for Menoth - the Templar - a cross between the Crusader and Vanguisher. Word is it will come in a multi-part "plastic" ?!?! kit allowing you to build a single Crusader, Templar or Vanguisher model. Awesome if its true.

In other news Privateer Press announced the full release schedule of the various components of the Mk2 rewrite with things kicking off in January 2010. Prices are in US $ - which is good for us Kiwi's as the exchange rate has hit an all time high.

Paladin & Reclaimer completed & new WIP

Finished final details on Paladin Order of the Wall & High Reclaimer last night, including highlighting and shading primarily with black to bring out certain areas. Also did the basing as well, which is by my own admission fairly average as it is something I still struggle to get right. Still very happy with overall look of both models particularly the Paladin who I was somewhat reluctant to paint as it seemed a bit daunting. Really pleased with way the shield has come out, and with the Reclaimers cross. Gave up on idea of doing the eyes just dont have the touch or patience for them.

Paladin Order of the Wall - Protectorate of Menoth Solo

High Reclaimer - Protectorate of Menoth Warcaster

Couple of mould lines here and there but not something I have ever worried about so much. Having major issues getting the Seneschal looking right though. Going to have to buy a bucket of nail polish remover to paint strip a huge number of models ready for re-painting.

Heirophant - Warcaster attachment

The final pictures are my new projects (along with Seneschal) are the Heirophant which has been sitting around for a while, and the Deliverer Sunburst for which I managed to lose a bunch of parts including the arms of one of the crewmen?!? The colour on the Heirophants base helped determine his facing under Mk1 rules, but I am going to have to remove all of these now as Mk2 Warmachine rules base facing on Shoulder position making a lot of my facing designations illegal.

WIP - High Reclaimer & Exemplar Seneschal (better pics)

Thanks again to Kuffeh for pointing out the Macro function on the typical digital camera.

High Reclaimer is nearly finished and only needs a few touch ups. Exemplar Seneschal (one of two) is in the base coating stage, 2nd Seneschal model needs to be paint stripped first.

High Reclaimer still needs
- Highlighting on arm bands and belt pouch.
- Face and eyes to be done.
- Washing of hot areas
- Tidying up of highlighted areas on cloak.
- Basing

Exemplar Seneschal needs pretty much everything done to him, plan is to get him and the Paladin looking the same along with my other Exemplar Units.

WIP - Paladin Order of the Wall (better pics)

Big thanks to Kuffeh for pointing out the Macro function on the typical digital camera. I honestly did not know that it was there. Saw the button, but had no freaking idea what it did. Tried it last night and damn was it easier to take close up photos, none of this hovering in and out trying to get focus.

So anyway here are some *ahem* better pictures of my current WIP or possibly better as close ups can be unforgiving. Work still do includes:
- The face including the eyes.
- Gem stones on the sword.
- Highlights and shading on the cloak
- Touch ups & highlights on the crosses on the front shoulder pads
- Tidying up of some of the gray edging on the armour
- Basing

Warmachine back on the painting table

Well despite my lack of motivation post yesterday I actually managed to get out the old paint brushes last night and make a start on some of HUGE painting backlog this time with my Protectorate of Menoth army. The models in question were the Paladin of the Wall and the High Reclaimer.

Trailing a new method of painting white armour which has turned out pretty well (pictures up tomorrow) and have discovered a new favourite colour "Hormaguant Purple" absolutely fantastic colour, now I just have to figure out how to shade & highlight it properly. I was going to change my Menoth armies colour scheme to Green, but realised that stripping and repainting yet another army wasn't such a good idea. Instead I'll go through and make some minor adjustments to various models, tidy up highlighted areas etc.

Motivation & army fluff

Only painting I have done over last two weeks has been my kids bedrooms. Finding it really difficult to get back into painting my little men... still so much to do. Have managed to get more work done on my Dwarven armies fluff blog though including a first attempt at a bit of saga writing, never been much of a poet but the 'Ballad of Thorin' hasn't turned out so bad.

Noticed that Wargames Factory has come out with an awesome new set of Roman Cavalry miniatures for Fields of Glory. Seriously thinking about getting back into that sort of gaming, a Roman type army would be pretty cool.

Podhammer & a slow day at the office

Finished listening to the latest episode of Podhammer this afternoon, highly entertaining especially listening to fellow married gamers talk about their wives opinions of our *ahem* "hobby" and how we all seem to have our "toys" banished to various small rooms, sleep outs and sheds in our respective houses. If you haven't listened to these guys I highly recommend them word of warning though the language is definitely NSFW so keep the volume down, or your headphones on.

Been a few weeks since I did any gaming, and looks like it will be a few more before I have another game. Consequently, I can't promise anymore battle report type posts on here for a little while. I am however getting back into my painting especially my Protectorate of Menoth army which I have decided to repaint in a new scheme in honor of the issuing of the Mk2 rule set. Will post pictures etc as I go.

Also working on updates for my other blog Karak Thorinkin, looking to comprehensively re-write the entire blog to tidy up a few issues here and there.

Progress will be slow though as Cricket season has started which keeps me pretty busy, baby no 2 is due in less than 3 weeks, and my students are swamping me with end of year papers *sigh*

Really hanging out for a game - need to throw some dice at something....
