High Elves and Fallschirmjager Army Pics

Not sure why but I decided to lay out my entire collection of Flames of War and High Elves on the table yesterday just to see what I had. For Flames of War there isnt as much as I thought - although I do have a Jagpanther Platoon on the way having just ordered one off Battlefront and there is a lot more I want to get. For my High Elves its the number of unpainted figures that I still have left, the large number of movement trays to be completed and the number of models whose snow has yellowed and needs to be replaced that is most daunting. Still its nice to see what you have.

Army wide pictures are large and should expand out

Fantastic photos. Really great to see armies laid out in all their splendor like this!

Can I ask a question?
My daughter wants me to start painting up a HE army for her. I have Skaven now...
...roughly how many points is your current HE force? How many would I need to be a playable 1500 pts or so?

Cheers,
Squeek

Thanks for the comments everyone glad you like them :)

@Anton - The individual basing was a kind of spur of the moment thing. But it really helps identify Platoons - I tend to use the barbed wire FJ platoon as Pioneers.

@Squeek - Just on model count not inc. unit commands, upgrades, fillers or magic items its approx 4500-5000pts. That inc. another 10 White Lions, 5 P/Guard & 8 S/Masters not in picture.

At 1500pts you need 375pts of core which is roughly 1 block of 25-30 Spears & a small unit of Archers. So thats 2 box sets of one and 1 of the other. Standard BSB build is 160pts, figure another character at 160 gives you 800 left over. A typical special choice (PG, WL, SM) will cost you 325-375pts for 20 models. That leaves another 450 for say a couple of Eagles, 2 units of cavalry. Or another big block of spears.

You can design a straight 1500pt force and buy what u want for that. But if you want flexibility then another 500-1000pts on top of it will help e.g. need 1-2 special infantry units, and 1-2 units of cavalry. RBT's not necessary, but Eagles are - buy the Warmaster version, cheaper and just as good (also widely used). Core units should not be overlooked, as magic can buff them enormously. so having 40 or so spear models is handy, mix them up with Archers in the front rank and they can proxy as Seaguard.

Try Ulthuan.net for 1500pt lists - Ill have a think and post a couple I would use next week.
